Response to Instruction

RtI

Response to Instruction (RtI) is a school based intervention program to assist students who may be struggling in reading, math, and their behavior.   RtI as defined by Bessemer  City School is the assurance that all students receive appropriate instruction for an appropriate amount of time in the general education classroom by a highly qualified teacher with fidelity.

A team of dedicated educators known as a problem solving team (PST) will develop an intervention program for the student to help deal with the weaknesses in obtaining a particular skill or to analyze data to see if a change of instructional practices is needed.

If you are a parent and need to make a referral, please contact your local school counselor or Brenda Hunter Jones@ 205-432-3002 or email her at bhunterjones@bessk12.org.
